Recapping X-Laser at LDI 2024: Making it Rain, Winning an Award & Debuting the IP65 Triton T Series

“Have you ever seen a laser inside a fishtank?” is a question so seemingly far-fetched that it would only border on making sense in a place like Las Vegas. And at our LDI 2024 booth, we gave attendees the opportunity to answer that question with a perhaps-still-awestruck, “Yes.”

That’s because for the world debut of our Triton T Series laser fixture, we showcased its IP65 rating in the most direct way: by rigging one of them inside of a fishtank with a steady stream of water raining down upon it.

Of course, the fishtank wasn’t the only draw to our booth, which we’re proud to say received an Honorable Mention from LDI for Best Small Booth Design. Much of the credit for that honor goes to our incredible friends at Eddy Sound, who designed the rig, provided much of the gear and helped out during the entire show. We couldn’t have done it without them!

Like 2023, we aimed to make the most of the relatively compact 20’ x 20’ booth space, while also trying to take the overall design to the next level. The rig featured more than 100 lighting fixtures in total, 22 of which were our lasers, and the remainder came from Eddy Sound’s impressive inventory, with a couple of exceptions.See the full gear list below:

More shows, more designers, same Mercury

In 2023, we played three timecoded shows at the booth, and knew we wanted to step it up for 2024. And like some say in Vegas, “Double or nothing,” so we brought a total of six timecoded shows to LDI 2024, programmed by four lighting designers using three different lighting consoles via our Mercury Laser Control firmware solution. Check them all out in full 4K below!

2024 X-Laser LDI Show Programming Credits

Avolites Show #1 ("HOOLIGAN") - McKenley Hoelmer (Eddy Sound)

Avolites Show #2 ("Happier Now") - Gabrielle Camassar (X-Laser)

grandMA Shows #1-3 ("Cyberpunk" + "Antidote") - Grant Kondourajian (GK Lighting)

Obsidian Onyx Show ("Invincible") - Steve Kosiba (Squeek Lights)

The wider array of shows allowed attendees to see even more creative possibilities of combining lasers and lights together in the same rig thanks to Mercury, and many visitors were genuinely impressed to learn that each show was programmed directly on each console, without the need for separate software, complicated triggering or any extra hassle.

We even had the three consoles set up right in front so visitors could get demos of the Mercury fixture profiles firsthand, and watch the cues trigger during each show playthrough. That’s the power of our Mercury firmware in a nutshell: Patch, program and unleash lasers from the lighting console you know and love.

Lasers engineered to elevate the experiences you create

Our 2024 LDI booth showcased our full range of production-level laser fixtures, ranging from the Skywriter HPX M-2 for smaller indoor venues to the world-tour-ready Triton T Series IP65 fixtures. Of course, all of our pro-grade laser fixtures include our exclusive Mercury Laser Control firmware built-in, so any of them (in power levels ranging from 2W to 120W) can be added seamlessly to an existing lighting rig or inventory.

If you couldn’t make it to LDI but are interested in acquiring X-Laser fixtures for your production needs, contact us right away for a free, no-obligation estimate because our special show pricing expires at the end of 2024. Or, if you’re a designer just seeking to explore Mercury and how easy it makes laser programming, request a “virtual” on-demand demo for the console of your choice.

In the meantime, lots of exciting product updates and content will be unveiled between now and LDI 2025, so stay tuned to our Instagram feed, YouTube channel, blog and email newsletter to stay updated on all things X-Laser. Wishing all of the #LaserFam a happy and healthy new year!
